The Fund is committed to building a strong and diverse membership base to support our mission of fostering sustainable cooperative growth and resilience around the world. We invite you to join.
Who Can Become a Member?
Membership of the FICD is open to both cooperative entities and individuals who: i) share our vision; ii) support our collective mission in a material way; iii) are able to demonstrate and promote their commitment to the ‘sixth cooperative principle’ and the value of solidarity.
We welcome:
- Cooperative Entities: Organisations that operate on cooperative values and principles, and are committed to cooperative solidarity and development.
- Individuals: Cooperators and individuals who believe in the potential of cooperatives and want to support the FICD’s work by making regular contributions.
How do Members Contribute?
Members can contribute in one of two ways:
- Financial Contributions: by subscribing financially, members provide the resources needed to fund our distributions and activity.
- Material Support in Kind: members can also contribute by providing material support, such as goods, services, or expertise that align with our goals and enhance our work.
How much and how often should we contribute as a Member?
Only contributors can be members. There is no fixed formula for how much you could contribute to qualify for membership, though we offer the following guidance:
- Cooperatives are asked to contribute annually, at a level that they believes is commensurate with their financial strength.
- Individuals are asked to contribute on a regular basis, as much as they are able. We understand this will vary a lot, depending on peoples’ personal means and situation.
Donations
You can make a financial or in kind donation to the Fund without becoming a Member, and receive regular updates about our growing work.
How Do Members Benefit?
You don’t have to be a member to support the FICD, but members will have the opportunity to shape our work by helping develop proposals for distributions and projects. The FICD is a democratic organisation, where members are eligible to nominate themselves or their candidates for places on our board, and to participate in other ways.
Above all, as a member of the FICD, you will become part of an organisation focused on:
- Building Economic Resilience: Strengthening the global co-operative sector to create resilient and inclusive economies.
- Improving Food Security: Enhancing food availability and sustainability through co-operative enterprises.
- Increasing Market Access: Opening doors to broader markets for co-operatives locally, regionally, and internationally.
- Supporting Crisis Recovery: Helping co-operatives survive and thrive in times of crisis through solidarity funds.
- Fostering Solidarity and Understanding: Building strong bonds of support and diversity across our global co-operative community.
